David Archuleta “Dream Sky High” CD Signed rare

This is the ultimate CD for fans of David Archuleta. It is an almost-one-of-a-kind signed CD of David singing “Dream Sky High.” It is, no doubt, the first CD professionally made of David singing. Search high, search low, finding one of these will be almost impossible – finding a signed one (complete with David’s doodle of an arch and the face of a pig) will definitely be impossible UNLESS YOU BUY THIS ONE!

On the CD is one song, “Dream Sky High,” written, according to the CD by David’s father Jeff and Sunny Hilden. David was only 12 when he recorded this song. The CD was produced and made for an event in Salt Lake City, Utah.

David sang at the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce’s 101st Annual Meeting luncheon on Thursday, September 18, 2003 at the Salt Lake City Marriott-Downtown. Every year the Salt Lake Chamber membership meets to honor board members and volunteers. In 2003 David was hired to be the entertainment.

The emcee for the event was local radio personality, Tom Barberi. This is the introduction given for David at the event:

“David Archuleta comes from a musical family where his mother sings both Spanish and English pop music, and his dad is a jazz trumpet player. David began singing at the age of 6 when he memorized several songs from the Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert, complete with English and Cockney accents.

“When he was 10 he participated in the Utah Talent Competition and received a standing ovation, winning the kid (division).

“Towards the end of the American Idol first season, a friend of the family called about a show Jenny Jones was doing to feature talented kids across America and thought David should audition for the show. A show producer called and listened to an a capella recording of David singing “And I Am Telling You”, and was so impressed, she asked him to rush a video and CD to them. A few days later, David and his dad were on a plane to Chicago to be on the show. While there he met AJ Gil from American Idol and formed a friendship with him, and a week later while in LA, met with AJ who then introduced David to the rest of the American Idol finalists and asked him to perform for them. They were absolutely amazed with his singing, and within a few days David was being introduced to many TV and Record label producers and executives.

“The last several months have included performing 3 times on Star Search, being seen on CBS’ The Early Show and has been the beginning of an exciting journey for David and his family. He is now in negotiations to record some new material and will be releasing a new CD soon.

About 200 to 300 of these CDs were made to hand out at the luncheon. David even personally signed a handful of them. When, and if, you win this auction, you will own one of only a few like this.

The signature has what looks like an arch (for Arch-uleta no doubt) on the left, David’s name in the center, and then a silly face of a pig on the right. I’m pretty confident that David doesn’t sign his CDs this way anymore!

The song itself will blow you away. Even at the age of 12 David had star power and a stage presence that was beyond his years.

But wait, I probably shouldn’t, but, maybe I will – nah, well, ok, ok, I’ll offer this as part of the deal to sweeten it a bit: Win this auction, and I’ll also send you DAVID ARCHULETA’S BUSINESS CARD from 2003. The number written on the card (not David’s handwriting – sorry) is the same as is printed on the CD anyway, and the mobile number doesn’t work. (I’ve blurred out the numbers on the photographs ) But it is a fun artifact from David’s early years when the Archuleta’s were struggling to get David recognized for his talent.

This is not, by the way, the first time a CD from the event has been offered on eBay. A few years ago an unsigned CD was put up for sale. On a David Archuleta fan site, somebody wrote this about the CD:

“He performed at a Chamber dinner and everyone there was given a copy! Too bad most people lost or discarded the CD years ago I saw one selling on eBay but I was too late :’( ”

Actually, as I wrote above, it was a luncheon, not a dinner. And yes, it is too bad most people did not keep the CD. The fools!!
