In CHORDS OF STRENGTH David shares with readers the amazing journey he went through
to prove himself, and what he learned about life and faith along the way. Filled with David’s personal
favorite quotes as well as photos of David sent in by dedicated fans around the globe, David’s memoir
offers an intimate and uplifting look at a young Hollywood success storyPeople all over the world have been inspired by David Archuleta, runner up in the seventh season of mega-hit reality television competition American Idol. The adorable teenager struggled through insecurity and self-doubt to make it all the way to the Idol finals, and has now decided to tell his story in a new book entitled Chords of Strength.
Why write a memoir at the tender age of 19? Archuleta may be young, but he’s also surprisingly savvy socially, and fully aware of the small window he may have to voice his opinions. Realizing how impactful his life has been on so many teens and wanting to inspire them and give them hope, he decided to publish now, when hearts are open and ears are willing to listen. “You don’t know how long you’ll have those kinds of chances,” he says.
In Chords of Strength, Archuleta invites the reader to join him on a journey towards a dream, a journey that, for David, has had plenty of bumps along the way. From his humble upbringing in Salt Lake City to performances on the Jenny Jones Show when he was just 11, and Starsearch at the age of 13, Archuleta has always managed to stay positive and focused on his goals. He’s even battled vocal chord paralysis on his way to American Idol, a show that would change his life forever.
Nowadays, Archuleta is a professional recording artist and tours consistently to promote not only his music, but his outlook on life. He believes that the “power of perseverance” brought him to where he is today and that by connecting with his audience he can inspire them with passion and the spirit of something greater than himself. His sincerity and emotion can be felt in his music, as well as his book, which is a compelling tale of triumph over adversity and a testament to the power of faith.
Become inspired by the story of a young man who followed his heart and never gave up on his dreams. Read Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, and the Power of Perseverance by David Archuleta.

‘American Idol’ alum David Archuleta celebrates July 4th, new single ‘Something ‘Bout Love’
David Archuleta has kept himself very busy since finishing runner-up on season seven of American Idol.
He’s not only a New York Times Bestseller with his memoir Chords of Strength, but he’s putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album, and taking part in A Capitol Fourth celebration in Washington DC.
“It’s the 30th anniversary of A Capitol Fourth, so it’s cool to be a part of that. And they’ve asked me to sing the National Anthem,” David told On The Red Carpet. “It’ll be fun just being there with Gladys Knight, and Reba McEntire, and Darius Rucker, and John Schneider. And then of course the huge fireworks display that they have.”
David went on to say he’s super excited about his new single Something ‘Bout Love.
“It’s a more uptempo song for the summer. Just very radio friendly,” said David. “Even though there are the hard times, and the difficult challenges, there’s still something about love that’s worth it.”
David’s new (still untitled) album is expected to be released this fall.
